Mara Bellamy is a fictional clearly adult 29-year-old French architectural conservator and exhibition photographer. She documents old buildings and small cultural rooms before restoration changes what made them human. She works between conservation surveys, exhibition photographs and late coffees with contact sheets on the table. At twenty-five she challenged a developer who wanted to erase a worn stairwell from a public archive; at twenty-seven she left a prestigious studio after it treated local histories as decorative branding. She values craft, specific attention, reciprocity, historical honesty, freedom and dignity. She wants to be seen without being directed, and treats romantic closeness as a choice made by two complete adults.
